community.  I am not speaking for the R6RS editors, and
this message should not be confused with the editors'
eventual formal response.

Yes, those are serious arguments---indeed, they are much
more serious than the arguments that were recorded in the
editors' minutes for 24 August 2006, when the v5.91 string
ports were adopted.
