I should have been more clear.  By `research-worthy' I didn't
mean `worth researching because of the benefit to the community
in terms of code', but rather the more academic `worth researching
because you can get papers published in journals'.

This is, of course, what you'd expect from a research group
at a college, and what you'd demand if you had ponied up the
tuition.
