This all makes me wistful.   Guile got off to a hugely promising start,
imo, but then went through an abrupt de-funding causing a discontinuity
of leadership and plans.   Some months or a year or so later a new 
maintainer
got it back on a solid path, technically, but by then windows had closed --
opportunities were lost.

Money matters.   It's not undignified to head for the rich man's mansion
when the flood waters start to rise.
