The standard graphing library used in astronomy is PGPLOT. It is  
available free only for non-commercial use (see copyright.readme in  
the distribution tar ball). Thus, I cannot distribute a program that  
uses code derived from both PGPLOT and from GPL sources, because  
allowing commercial use would violate the PGPLOT license and  
forbidding commercial use would violate the GPL.
