Yes there is, and it is.  (no apologies)

It's poetic, and insider, and silly yet it is 
expressive, I think, about recognition of an 
interesting aspect of the design space of Scheme
and the choices made by R6 relative to that design
space, as well as to the somewhat free-style
form of discussion that the more technical messages
had as subtext.

It's a graceful rhetorical move to fade out a 
particular set of threads without absolute 
resolution while still acking, abstractly, some of
the legit content of those threads.
